Get in Shape! A great new years resolution.

People spend hundreds of millions of dollars buying gym memberships and fitness equipment this time of year in preparation for their new years resolutions but you dont have to. Getting in shape doesnt require money, just knowledge and dedication and this video will put you on the road to fitness.

In this video I will show you how to achieve your new years resolution of losing weight and getting stronger with a simple 30 minute home workout. This video assumes that you have no experience with fitness or weightlifting so dont worry, we are not going to use any intimidating equipment. You will feel better and have more energy after your very first workout!

OK, now for our workout, there are only three exercises – crunches for abs, pushups for chest, shoulders and triceps, and pullups for lats and biceps. And dont worry, if you cant do a single pushup or pullup I will show you how you can get started and build up your strength. This workout is for everyone, no matter how out of shape you are. You probably did these three exercises back in PE as a kid, but I’m going to show you how to do them correctly so you dont get injured.

On Monday/Wednesday/Friday do 15 minutes of cardio and this 15 minute workout. On the other four days of the week, do 30 minutes of cardio.

Here are some in-depth videos if you want more information on any of the following subjects:

Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. bodybuilding doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.

First instalment of diet vs. exercise where Craig Ballantyne and Brad Pilon show you how ineffective cardio is and just how dramatic your calorie intake can be without you knowing it.

The simple truth is; you can’t out-train a bad diet.

Today, in this contest, Craig Ballantyne is going to run on the treadmill on an incline of .5 and a speed of 10.5 mph for 3 minutes, while Brad Pilon eats pizza and drinks soda pop.

Brad is going to try to consume as many calories as he can in those 3 minutes, while Craig is going to see how many calories he can burn off in that same amount of time.

In 3 minutes, Brad consumed approximately 1000 total calories, while Craig burned only 43 calories.

Cardio loses against diet.

This just goes to show you, in diet vs. exercise, you can never out train a bad diet. It doesn’t matter how good your program is, if this is your nutrition, you’re not going to lose fat.

How to Atkins Diet TV: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/how-to-atkins-diet-tv

This is the next one in my series of Atkins Diet Misconceptions where I combat all myths and misunderstandings regarding low carbing and weight loss in general. In this episode, I deal with the fallacy of the Calorie-In, Calorie-Out theory of weight loss. That is the belief that human weight loss is nothing more than the Law of Thermodynamics. The human body is nothing more than a steam engine, which takes in fuel and burns it to do work. In order to track how many pounds to lose, you simply need to count the burned Calories and divide by 3000.

My problem with this theory is that it is just wrong. It ignores the countless human body processes that affect weight loss – hormones (like stress hormones that cause the body to hold on to body fat), electrolyte balance and water weight, exercise and muscle building. It does not deal with how or where the weight is being consumed, and that different foods may react differently irregardless of the Caloric intake.

Finally, it has been proven wrong in many studies. The most famous study is the 2003 Harvard study (http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/2003/10.23/03-lowcarb.html) lead by Penelope Greene. She carried out a 12 week study of three groups with controlled exercise and food intake. The three groups were two groups eating the same Caloric intake (high carb / low carb (high fat)) and a third group who eat 300 more Calories per day (25,000 excess Calories over the 12 week study). The two low carb both lost more weight (35%) than the high carb group. The excess Calorie group did lose less weight than lower Calorie low carb group, but three pound difference did not equate to the excess 25,000 excess Calories.
